Hall of Fame Coach Jim Calhoun Announced as Featured Clinician for

Harvard  Basketball Coaches Clinic

Basketball Hall of Famer and three-time NCAA Division I men’s basketball champion coach Jim Calhoun is set to serve as the featured clinician for the Harvard Basketball Coaches Clinic, with the annual event scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 30, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Lavietes Pavilion.

Registration is open, and coaches who register before Oct. 27 will receive the early-bird rate of $75 per coach. Registration from Oct. 27-30, including walk-ups, will cost $100 per coach.

A 2005 inductee into the Basketball Hall of Fame, Calhoun served as the head coach at the University of Connecticut from 1986-2012, winning three national championships (1999, 2004, 2011) and leading the Huskies to four appearances in the Final Four (1999, 2004, 2009, 2011).

Over the course of his coaching career, Calhoun totaled over 900 NCAA victories (917-397), won seven Big East Tournament titles, and captured 10 Big East regular season championships. He gained Big East Coach of the Year accolades four times and won the John R. Wooden Legends of Coaching Award in 2005.

Calhoun holds deep ties to the New England region beginning with his playing days at Braintree High School in Braintree, Massachusetts and at American International College. After beginning his coaching career at Lyme-Old Lyme High School in Connecticut and Dedham High School in Massachusetts, Calhoun served as the head coach at Northeastern from 1972-86 before taking over at UConn. Calhoun closed his coaching career at the University of Saint Joseph from 2018-21.

Coaches who attend the clinic will be able to observe a Harvard men's basketball practice with commentary and analysis from Tommy Amaker, The Thomas G. Stemberg ’71 Family Endowed Coach for Harvard Men's Basketball. Following lunch, attendees will end with a lecture and question-and-answer session with Calhoun.

The exclusive and influential group of past clinicians and guest speakers includes Brett Brown, Geno Auriemma, Stan Van Gundy, Lionel Hollins, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Fran Fraschilla, Mike D'Antoni, Brad Stevens, Doug Collins, Jeff Van Gundy, and Doc Rivers.

Covid Guidelines & Policy to Attend Clinic

Vaccination against COVID-19 is strongly encouraged. All Harvard Athletics facility policies, including health and safety policies, and posted instructions must be followed while in the Harvard Athletics complex.

Parking for the clinic

Early registrants will receive a parking pass with their email confirmation for the Clinic to park at Lavietes Pavilion on the Athletics Campus. Our address is 65 North Harvard Street, Boston, MA 02163.


Lunch will be served for all registered and attending coaches.

Included in Registration

Included in your registration is a Nike golf polo! Be sure to let us know what size shirt you need when you complete the registration process!

Payment Confirmation

Upon completing the check-out process, you will receive an automated email confirming your registration to the email address you register with. This will include your parking pass for the Clinic. If you do not receive an email within a few hours, please check your Spam folder. If you still have trouble finding the email, please call our office at 408-829-8878.

Returning Coaches will receive an additional email from the Harvard Basketball Staff confirming their eligibility and approval for the discounted price.

Receipt of purchase

After registering for your program, you will receive a confirmation email which will act as a receipt of purchase. Additionally, you may log into your account navigate to orders for your order history.

The Academy is open to any and all entrants (limited by only by number, age, grade level and/or gender – see academy details)
Due to NCAA rules, the Coaches Clinic is open to Coaches only. Players may not participate or attend.
